The Castles of the Medici
We'll hike these verdant lands from the village of Spugnole to the Medici castles of Trebbio and Cafaggiolo, just north of Florence.
Barbiana and Don Milani
We'll hike this area of the Mugello with scenic vistas of the valley. We end up at the historic site of Barbiana, the famous one-room schoolhouse run by the Catholic priest, Don Milani.
Chianti Wine Country
Just south of Florence one can hike amid the vineyards and tour the many wineries.
The Sienese Claylands
We'll explore the area around Mont'Oliveto Maggiore , just south of Siena, and hike in the surrounding countryside. Cypress trees and eroded cliffs charactarize this
mystic-fairytale landscape.
Castelvecchio of San Gimignano
Just west of S.G. is the abandoned village of Castelvecchio. We'll not only see typical mediterranean flora but also ancient medieval ruins.
The Orcia River Valley
The towns of Pienza, San Quirico and Montepulciano offer hikes of the quintessential tuscan landscape. Good Pecorino cheese and Nobile red wine accompany the experience.
